Toyota Shows Strong Environmental Leadership on Best Global Green Brands Report!

In the world of automobiles, increased efforts are being put towards improving efficiency and becoming more sustainable. For Toyota this is quite an apparent goal, especially when looking at Interbrand's annual list of 50 Best Global Green Brands. For the third year in a row the automaker has ranked number one in the study, further demonstrating its strong green initiatives.

To generate the study, Interbrand evaluates companies based on their environmental practices and the consumer perceptions that are formed as a result. This allows it to narrow down its list from 100 to the top 50 brands.

When looking at the progress made by Toyota, this recognition doesn't come as much of a surprise. For example, in 2012 alone over 2.9 million Prius models were sold globally. For a model that has been around for 10 years, it has certainly earned Toyota some well-deserved time in the spotlight.

Along with its expansive offering of hybrid vehicles available in the new Toyota, the automaker has also been working on green initiatives at its Toyota Ecoful Town in Toyota City, Japan. Essentially it is a low carbon society that encourages alternative modes of transportation and other green practices.

Toyota is definitely a leader when it comes to the hybrid vehicle market.
